Flood Perimeter Wall - ~$30,000,000 contract - US Department of Veteran Affairs

This project focused on erecting a 1,300lf floodwall protection system along the perimeter of the Veteran Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) in Manhattan. The scope of work encompassed demolition, flood preparedness, and protection measures, including the installation of a seepage barrier. Above-grade brick-faced floodwalls, automatic floodgates, and specific site features were integral components of the project.

Street hardscape restoration covered a comprehensive revitalization, addressing streets, sidewalks, pedestrian ramps, vehicle entrance ramps, crash barriers, bollards, and electronic-controlled security gates. The project further involved the establishment of controlled pump stations as force mains to manage flood conditions, intricately connected to the NYCDEP combined water and sewer systems. A high level of coordination was maintained with utility companies and NYCDEP, encompassing gas, electric service, water and sewer mains, and the storm sewer system.
